New pasta queen hits TV screens
A new TV cook makes her debut on Channel 4 next week.
Michela Chiappa is the star of 'Simply Italian', a brand new cookery series in homage to Italian pasta dishes, which kicks off at 8.30pm on Monday July 30.
The show will see Michaela, a Welsh-born Italian, take viewers on a crash course in how to make fresh pasta based on recipes handed down through generations of her family, who originate from the Emilia Romagna region of Northern Italy.
Filmed on location in her family home in Merthyr Tydfil, Michaela and her sisters aim to teach viewers that fresh pasta is not something to shy away from, making simple stuffed pasta dishes and homemade traditional sauces.
Starting with pasta recipes that require just a ball of dough and a rolling pin, they will also travel back to their home town of Bardi in Italy to meet experts and learn more about their national dish.

Made two dishes this week "Magnifico". The Ragu sauce and the lovely pasta dish with asparagus and peas, can truly recommend both. Well done we the "English" can do with Italian food cooked properly rather then some of the substitute rubbish served here. More more more

recently made the zesty linguine and the bolognese, couldn't believe how tasty they both were! Can't wait to see the next episode, and will be buying the book once released.

I had all of the ingriedients in so I made the bolognese and It was lovely. I did not hear the name of the flour to use for the pasta or pizza. Is it the same one?

If you look at the recipes from last night's programme, Michaela has listed the flour in her recipes.

Really loved the programme - michela was young and vibrant and really inspiring - she made it look simple, quick and easy to make using fresh ingredients. It certainly gave me the urge to make it! Does she have a cook book?

What on earth do welsh-northern Italians know about pasta making? It's all about the london-autostrade del sole.
