Asda plays matchmaker on Valentine’s Day

To mark the most romantic day of the year, an Asda supermarket in Scotland played Cupid to help customers find new partners.

The store in Govan, west of Glasgow city centre, hosted a ‘traffic light’ trolley party on Valentine’s Day (February 14) between 10am and noon.

Shoppers wore a numbered green, amber or red badge, depending on their relationship status. Secret admirers then left the badge wearer who caught their eye a ‘love note’ on the store’s Valentine’s Day board.

Cupid-in-Chief and general store manager Mark Allan commented: “As a bit of Valentine’s Day fun, we thought we’d play matchmaker by offering customers the chance to pick up more than just their shopping. Who knows, we might have helped a single shopper find their perfect partner!”
