Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain is set to star in her own BBC cookery show.
The BBC has commissioned a two-part series with a working title of ‘The Chronicles Of Nadiya’. The show is described as ‘an exuberant food-inspired journey’ from Nadiya’s birthplace in Luton to her family village in the north-east of Bangladesh.
The programmes will combine ‘personal revelation with fascinating food travelogue, and explore the hidden world of Bangladesh and the exceptional dishes typical of the country’.
Nadiya, who won the sixth series of BBC series ‘The Great British Bake Off’ last year, will be cooking dishes from her childhood, sharing favourite meals with family and friends, learning new recipes, finding out what’s changed on the food scene since her last visit to Bangladesh a decade ago for her wedding, and meeting people as passionate about food as she is.
BBC head of commissioning, documentaries, Patrick Holland said: “Nadiya’s story on ‘Bake Off’ touched the hearts of the nation. We’re delighted that she will be using her cooking skills to take us on a journey to such an extraordinary and changing land.
