They contributed a total of £1,598.83 to the industry charity – equivalent to £2,046.50 when Gift Aid is taken into account.

RDT trustees were delighted with the donation. Said trust president Colin Petty: “Like many charities, the Rainy Day Trust has experienced a drop in income over the past couple of years, and it’s been a real struggle to maintain the level of support for our beneficiaries. We’re hugely grateful to the guests at the Britain’s Best Retailer Awards dinner for their generosity.”

Founded in 1843, the Rainy Day Trust is a benevolent fund which provides annual grants and one-off assistance for people who have spent a significant part of their working lives in the housewares, hardware and DIY industries, and who now find they need a helping hand.
