The latest in a series of Meet the Buyer days with retailer Wyevale Garden Centre Group took place on May 11.
The event, hosted by hosted by BHETA (British Home Enhancement Trade Association) and GIMA (Garden Industry Manufacturer’s Association), was held at the Holiday Inn at Brentford Lock in London, near Wyevale’s head office.
BHETA housewares sector director Will Jones said: “As Wyevale has 153 garden centres across the UK, this was a fantastic chance for housewares, DIY and garden companies to pitch their ideas and explore trading opportunities.”
Wyevale was keen to see potential new suppliers (including niche companies) with new products or innovations that would be of interest to its customers. As well as in-store options, Wyevale was interested in premium ranges which could present it with the chance to extend its online offer.
A mix of 42 gardening, homeware and DIY suppliers took part in 56 appointments, each lasting 20 minutes. Twelve buyers from from Wyevale’s Indoor and Outdoor teams participated, representing categories including home, giftware, horticulture, gardening, pet, leisure and toys/kids.
BHETA home improvement and garden sector director Paul Grinsell said: “Yet again this was a very popular event, presenting a fabulous mutual benefit for buyers and suppliers. It was great to be working with GIMA again to facilitate opportunities like these.”
