Brita’s UK base goes carbon neutral

After achieving reductions in office energy consumption, waste to landfill and business travel as well as increasing the amount of waste recycled, the company has also now implemented an offset strategy to reduce environmental impact in the future.

CarbonNeutral certification was achieved by monitoring greenhouse gas emissions using the Best Foot Forward system and working with The CarbonNeutral Company to verify and reduce Brita’s carbon footprint to zero.

Through offsetting, every tonne of CO2 emitted by Brita is matched by an equivalent amount saved by a range of renewable energy projects elsewhere in the world, which have been selected by Brita.

Brita is also the only water filtration company to have a comprehensive recycling programme for exhausted filters and a purpose-built recycling plant at its German

headquarters. There are now over 1,500 recycling points around the country where consumers can return used filter cartridges for recycling.
