Coma man lands TK Maxx in court

TK Maxx faces possible fines of over £25,000 today for health and safety breaches at its distribution centre.
Christopher Polles fell off a ladder at the Lymedale Business Park distribution centre in Chesterton, Staffordshire in 2005, suffering a fractured skull and swelling on the brain. As a result, the 51-year-old was left in a coma for almost a month.

The retailer has admitted failing to ensure the health and safety of employees and failing to ensure that a suitable risk assessment was in place. It will be sentenced later today at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
