Debenhams appoints Richard Jones as trading director, global sourcing

Richard Jones will join Debenhams on February 5 in the role of trading director, global sourcing.

His responsibilities will include leading the department store group‘s product development and sourcing team, which includes overseas hubs in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Richard has a proven track record in buying and merchandising, along with sourcing and supply chain experience. He played a significant part in developing the Sainsbury’s TU clothing business and brand and has held senior commercial and operational posts at Marks and Spencer, Tesco and Target, Australia.

Debenhams IT and supply chain director Angela Morrison said: “Richard joins Debenhams with excellent knowledge and credentials in both sourcing and product development. He will undoubtedly be a real asset as he leads Debenhams’ UK and international teams to improve our product offer.”

Richard’s appointment follows the arrival earlier this month of Steven Cook as managing director of fashion and home.
