Dunelm has strengthened its London presence with the opening of a new 34,000 sq ft high street superstore in Kingston upon Thames, marking the retailer’s second new-format London store to launch during the current financial year.
Located at 69–75 Clarence Street in the former Marks & Spencer building, the two-storey store officially opened on 25 June as part of Dunelm’s strategy to expand its presence through a range of retail formats across the UK and Ireland while bringing its homewares offer closer to local communities.
The Kingston site becomes Dunelm’s third new-format London location, following openings at Westfield White City and Wandsworth. Designed as a home inspiration destination, the store features styled room sets across departments to help shoppers visualise products in their own homes.
Customers can shop Dunelm’s full homewares assortment, including bedding, curtains, made-to-measure services, kitchenware, storage, lighting, bathroom products, blinds and decorative accessories.
The new store also introduces an updated Pausa café concept, offering a modern space for customers to relax alongside family-friendly initiatives such as the retailer’s “kids eat free” offer during school holidays. Other features include self-checkouts and a dedicated Click & Collect hub, with free collection available in as little as two hours, subject to availability.
Ahead of the launch, Dunelm partnered with Age UK Richmond to refurbish the charity’s Wellbeing Centre through product donations and bespoke made-to-measure window treatments, helping to improve the space used to support older people in the local community.
Abi Stokes, Fundraising and Project Manager at Age UK Richmond, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Dunelm for transforming a dated room into a warm and welcoming space. It has made a real difference for our clients, helping them feel more at ease when accessing support, and has also created a valuable, versatile area for our team. We’re absolutely delighted with the result.”
Amanda Cox, Chief Operations Officer at Dunelm, said: “We’re extremely excited to bring Dunelm to Kingston. This is a landmark location for us – taking on such a well-known site in the heart of the town centre and transforming it into a destination for home inspiration. We can’t wait to welcome customers.”
