Eddingtons to take on distribution for Epicurean cutting surfaces and utensils brand

Housewares supplier Eddingtons has announced an agreement to take on distribution of the US Epicurean brand for the UK and Republic of Ireland to both retail and foodservice customers.

A transition plan has been agreed with fellow housewares supplier Gilberts, which currently distributes Epicurean under the “Top Gourmet” brand.

Shipments will commence from Eddingtons to retail customers in September and to foodservice customers from January 2017.

Eddingtons marketing manager Adam Smith said: “We are delighted to be working with such an innovative and exciting global brand. The fantastic range of Epicurean products adds additional depth to the Eddingtons offering and we are thrilled to bring it to the UK market for the first time.”

Epicurean was founded in 2004 by custom skate park manufacturer TrueRide as a way to repurpose excess skate material generated during manufacturing.

The founders of TrueRide knew that similar material was being used in commercial kitchens, so created a line of home food preparation surfaces from the scrap.

Today, Epicurean supplies an array of wood-based products that range from dishwasher-safe cutting boards to food preparation tools – all made in the USA. Its signature material is made with multiple layers of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood fibres, compressed with a food-safe resin.
