Excellence in Housewares Awards winners named

A host of housewares suppliers and retailers are celebrating after receiving an Excellence in Housewares Award at last Friday’s industry event.

The Cutting Edge award went to Joseph Joseph for its Index chopping boards, while the Tefal ActiFry won in the Plugged-in category.

Eddingtons’ Eggshell silicone egg poacher won the Top Tool or Gadget award, and Le Creuset walked away with the Excellence in Cookware award for its toughened non-stick range.

In the Excellence in Homewares category the top award went to Oxo Good Grips Pop Containers, while WMF won in the Top of the Table category for the Willy, Mia & Fred egg cup.

The Icon award went to Rayware for the Mason Cash mixing bowl.

In the retailer categories, Martin Benak, manager of Richmond cookshop Kooks Unlimited, took Retail Employee of the Year, while the accolade for Best Department Store went to Williams & Griffin in Colchester.

Lakeland took the Best Large Multiple Retailer award, and Steamer Trading Best Small Multiple Retailer.

Saffron Walden cookshop Marchants won in the independent category of the Excellence in Retail Display award, while Bentalls won in the multiple or department store category.

Lakeland took the Excellence in Retailer Initiative award for its Next Big Thing II scheme, and Kitchens won in the Excellence in Retail Training category.

The Excellence in Online Retailing accolade went to Pots & Pans, while the Most Promising Newcomer was named as Annabels Cookware of Virginia Water. The CHA Retailer of the Year was Cookmate of Worcester.

Finally, Kitchen Craft took Gold in the Excellence in Service category, and Peter Battersby walked away with the Honorary Achievement Award.
