Exclusively reveals style trends: Escapism/Phygital

Known for predicting the commercial trends in housewares, gift and small domestic electricals, The Exclusively Show (14th and 15th June at the Business Design Centre) is all set to do so again in 2022. Working with trend forecaster, Scarlet Opus, the show will include trend talks, trend tours for buyers and displays of exhibitors’ products pre-selected for being particularly in tune with the themes and styles which will prove popular in 2023 and beyond.

Phil Pond from Scarlet Opus has given a sneak preview of Escapism / Phygital, which focusses on a futuristic world where virtual reality is the norm and the lines between physical and digital are blurred. Bright, confident shapes bring this to life, with a punky shocking pink projected to be the key colour. Edgy, strong and individual, products break boundaries and go beyond existing formats. The trend is also about engaging with the Metaverse and virtually ‘using’ immersive online experience where customers can create customisable avatars to explore brands, products and techniques. Surreal imagery, shapes and digitally created visuals in photography, product styling, and advertising will be key.

The main exhibition and the Brand Showcase – the media-friendly edit of the main show – will both feature products which demonstrate this trend and Escapism / Phygital will be featured in the trends exhibition, with perfect examples from exhibitors.

Chair of Exclusively and Chief Operating Officer of show owner, BHETA, Will Jones commented, “It’s great for both exhibitors and visitors to get some preview insight into the top trends for the next few years ahead of the event itself. It ensures that Exclusively is as ever a real showcase of the absolute best and most current housewares, gift and small domestic electrical products in the industry. Which is exactly why the show is such a big draw for the top buyers from all the multiples, garden centres and visitors from many of the nation’s independent stores specialising in cook, dine and gift.”
