After the surprise year-on-year growth in retail sales and traffic in May, latest figures from SPSL’s Retail Traffic Index show shopper footfall numbers in decline again.

The number of consumers going into non-food retail outlets fell by 1.3% in June against May, and by the same 1.3% against June last year.
Retail outlets within regional shopping centres, though, were the worst hit. Shopper numbers there were down 4.9% year-on-year as shoppers reacted to fuel price increases.
