Gourmet housewares go green in the US

Amongst green products on show from the 350 exhibitors will be kitchen textiles – cloth, towel, potholder, mitt, apron and handleslip – from MU Kitchen made from bamboo and cotton, and 100% biodegradable.

Vita-Mix Corporation will introduce its upgraded TurboBlend 4500 blender, featuring a new BPA-free container made of copolyester, while the leading manufacturer of environmentally-friendly bamboo products in the US, TruBamboo LLC, will introduce new kitchen utensils and gadgets and plans to expand into bamboo glassware.

Proteak Renewable Forestry, committed to environmentally and socially responsible forestry practices, will present new sustainable teakwood products.

The show will also feature the Gourmet Golds Awards, highlighting the show’s best new products in cookware and bakeware, kitchen electrics, gadgets, cutlery and accessories, gourmet gifts and specialty food, and tabletop and textiles. In line with the current sustainability trend, the Awards will also showcase the new Green award, along with a Best in Show Award.

The 2008 Gourmet Housewares Show is scheduled for May 6 to 8, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.
