A sharp improvement in its UK business helped Groupe SEB enjoy a strong third quarter this year.

Worldwide revenue of the group, whose brands include Tefal, Rowenta, Krups and Moulinex, increased to €2,423m against €2,104m in the equivalent period in 2009. Operating margin amounted to €276m in the nine months of the year, compared with €194m for the prior-year period.
Sales in western European countries, excluding France but including the UK, rose to €496m from €457m, with consumer spending and demand for small household equipment holding firm in virtually all markets and confirming the positive trend of recent months.
According to the company: “This very buoyant environment was lifted by faster growth in Spain, Italy, Austria and Scandinavia as well as by still solid sales dynamic in Germany and the Netherlands. The business also benefited from a dramatic positive turnaround in the United Kingdom and Portugal. Third-quarter revenues were stable in Belgium and lower in Greece.”
The world leader in small household equipment, Groupe SEB operates in nearly 150 countries.
