Kelly Grant, the event director of summer trade show Home & Gift Buyers’ Festival, which is due to be held in the North Yorkshire town of Harrogate in July, issued a statement today (Tuesday March 31) on plans for the 2020 event.
Kelly said: ‘You may have seen some media reports yesterday regarding one of the Home & Gift Show’s venues, the Harrogate Convention Centre (HCC), being commissioned as a temporary hospital.
‘This was a rapidly occurring decision from HM Government that supports the wider national situation regarding Covid-19 and due to confidentiality, was only shared with us shortly before it was made public.
‘We have been informed by the HCC that the temporary hospital set-up will not displace Home & Gift at this time. We are currently in conversations with, and working with, all of our venues, stakeholders and the wider community on a number of scenarios that will allow us to continue to deliver a successful Home & Gift.
‘As the organisers of Home & Gift, like you, we fully support the need to prioritise the greater good during this difficult time for those affected and for the nation as a whole.
‘The Home & Gift team will continue to offer their support and to keep you updated with any new information, whilst continuing on the delivery of this important event in the safest and most successful way.’
