Housewares and homewares retail giant HomeSense has begun a fast and furious rollout of stores in the UK.
A sister retailer to TK Maxx, HomeSense opened its first outlet, in Poole, last month, in a 10,655sq ft unit on primary retail park The Commerce Centre. Doors to the second store, with 14,558sq ft on Cardiff’s Lifestyle Shopping Park, opened at the beginning of this month – and four more openings are scheduled for the next two weeks.
Like TK Maxx, HomeSense operates a policy of opportunistic buying and a no-frills set-up to deliver a unique off-price concept, that offers one-off pieces, familiar brand names and designer home products at knock-down prices.
The offer comprises cookware, kitchenware, storageware, tableware and glassware along with soft furnishings, bathroom accessories, lighting, small items of furniture, home accessories and seasonal products.
The Poole store’s manager Raegan Dawson commented: “HomeSense is all about unique finds at irresistible prices. Thousands of new items will arrive every week at this store, so we can offer customers a truly exciting and continually-changing shopping experience.”
HomeSense is part of the TJX Companies Inc, which operates over 60 HomeSense stores in Canada, as well as Winners. In the UK and Ireland it runs TK Maxx, while in the US it operates TJ Maxx, Marshalls, AJ Wright, HomeGoods and Bob’s Stores.
This month will see four further HomeSense openings in the UK: Bristol, May 15; Northampton, May 21; Manchester, May 22; and Gloucester, May 29.
