Horwood is in celebratory mood after winning an accolade at the annual Gala Awards organised by bira (British Independent Retailers Assocxiation).
The housewares company was named bira direct Supplier of the Year in the Cookshop, Housewares, Tabletop & Gift category.
Horwood triumphed over a shortlist of three finalists: Dexam International, Eddingtons and Kuhn Rikon.
Bira said that Horwood, best known for its fast-moving cookware ranges, was chosen by retailers because of its “speed of deliveries, fair pricing structure, great range and terrific quality of products – exactly what you want and need from a supplier.”
The winner of the bira direct Supplier of the Year in the Hardware. Garden & DIY category was Everbuild Building Products, which beat off stiff competition from finalists CPC, L G Harris & Co and Jegs.
The bira direct Supplier of the Year awards, which were based on the votes of 5,000 bira members representing 7,000 shops, were presented at an evening ceremony held at the Four Pillars Hotel in Cotswolds Water Park on May 16.
Bira national president Michael Hughes said: “The supplier-retailer relationship is crucial to the success of any retail business, and [the Gala Awards] celebrate that relationship and those that have angaged and thrived with our retail members.”
