Indesit encourages families to share Christmas chores

Research by Indesit has revealed that in the run-up to the festive season, the preparations for the big day are not being shared equally, with mums taking on the majority of Christmas tasks.

In an online survey of 2,000 parents aged between 20-64 carried out between April 27 and May 8, Indesit explored how modern families approached everyday challenges in the home and the importance of involving children in household chores.

The study showed that 85% women claimed to be solely responsible for delegating household chores. In addition to being accountable for Christmas planning, women also felt they did more than their fair share of festive chores, with 70% taking on the role of present-wrapping and 65% writing the Christmas cards. However, the task that saw the whole family pitch in to help was putting up the Christmas tree and decorating it.

As part of Indesit’s ongoing #DoItTogether campaign, the appliance brand aims to promote gender equality in the home and encourage families to share household chores, even at Christmas time.

Indesit said: ‘Cooking Christmas dinner is quite a large task, especially ensuring that every dish is cooked to perfection and ready to eat at the same time. To help families create delicious festive meals with ease, we have developed the Turn&Cook app, available on both iOS and Android devices, which features a selection of recipe ideas.’

The app recognises ingredients and recommends recipes to cook using the Indesit Aria built-in oven (KFW 3844 H IX). Providing up to 71 litres of cooking capacity, the ‘A+’ energy rated single built-in oven (KFW 3844 H IX) is suitable for cooking a large roast, complete with all of the trimmings.

Indesit brand manager Sara Bazeley commented: “This festive season, at Indesit, we are encouraging all family members to get stuck in with preparations for the big day. By sharing out the Christmas chores equally, families can spend more time together enjoying the festivities.

“We will continue to design easy-to-use, family-friendly appliances that are accessible to all users, ensuring that domestic tasks don’t require any special knowledge – meaning sharing chores is simpler than ever.”
