The John Lewis Partnership says it is committed to doubling sales over the next 10 years. The £12b target would entail opening at least 10 new department stores and the creation of up to 35,000 jobs.
Meanwhile, the retailer is set to introduce a range of small appliances to its own-brand offer. Kettles and toasters will be launched next month, followed by food prep products in the summer.
John Lewis said it had been encouraged by sales of its own-label large appliances. Its own brands now represent a third of the retailer’s overall product offer.
