Over an eight-month period, the phased refurbishment has seen 35,000sq ft of back-office and warehouse space released to increase the shop’s selling area by one third.

Customers now benefit from a new nursery and childrenswear offer, as well as a significantly extended beauty department. The shop’s existing audio visual department has also been enhanced for the first time, and customers can choose from a selection of fitted bathrooms in-store.

The shop will also be the first John Lewis to implement a brand new zoned fitness department which will house wellbeing, running, tennis, outdoor and children’s sportswear amongst others. A Gait analysis pod will be stationed on the shop floor to assess customer running techniques and staff can advise on appropriate equipment.

Multichannel touchpoints will also allow customers to shop for wider a wider range of goods online whilst in branch.

John Lewis High Wycombe’s multi-million pound refurbishment is the retailer’s biggest single investment in redevelopment in 2013 and has created over 200 new jobs.
