Karen Lincoln of Forma House takes on 450km charity bike ride

Housewares supplier Forma House is supporting colleague Karen Lincoln in her fundraising efforts to complete “the challenge of a lifetime”.

She has worked in the housewares industry for over seven years (within the Forma House accounts department) and is aiming to raise over £3,000.

In November 2016, Karen is cycling 450km through Vietnam and Cambodia over 12 days (six of which will be in the saddle). She is taking part in the 6 Women V Cancer challenge, joining a women-only team of cyclists.

They will be supporting three charities in their work for CAF – Women V Cancer : Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. Karen is aiming to raise a minimum of £3,200.

Karen said: “I would truly appreciate your support in helping me achieve this, not only in making my dream a reality, but also in supporting these charities with their life-changing work.”

Explaining why she decided to take up the challenge, she said: “Well, how could I resist? At the time being 51 years old, unfit and terribly overweight, I couldn’t ever remember cycling before – not even as a child! Obviously I signed up immediately.

“I think as you get older you get braver and I intend to follow my dreams. I really truly believe if you can see it, you can do it, and I intend to just go for it and grab it with both hands.”

She added: “Sadly cancer doesn’t stop when the treatment finishes. The psychological effects stay with you… you wear the scars and it can be a lonely place. There is life after cancer, but we all just need the support to get through it – that is my motivation.’’
