Lakeland to host ‘open house’ for new suppliers

Housewares retailer Lakeland is hosting its first ever UK Supplier Open House event on Tuesday July 7 in London, to give new suppliers the opportunity to meet key buyers and discuss their ideas.

The specialist chain’s buying director Matthew Canwell and his senior buying team are hoping to speak to new brands looking at launching their products onto the high street in Lakeland stores – from premium brands to smaller brands thinking about taking the next step to national distribution – or simply someone with a great idea that they’d like to showcase to a group of experts.

Matthew Canwell said: “We decided to hold our first UK Open House event to discover some great new talent that we can help nurture and grow with Lakeland. We understand that working with large companies such as ours can seem daunting to smaller companies, so we decided to hold our open day to allow people the chance to meet the team and showcase their products in a new, more informal way.”

He added: “Innovative thinking has been at the heart of Lakeland for 50 years, and we’re always looking for innovations that really bring something new and exciting to the kitchen.” Brands are invited to email meet@lakeland.co.uk to hear more.

Lakeland operates 69 stores nationwide in the UK, 11 stores in the Middle East and three in India. In Summer 2013 the brand launched in Germany, with a dedicated German website lakeland.de.
