Leekes is set to mark St David’s Day weekend with the launch of the latest phase of its £10 million investment programme at its flagship Llantrisant store – a milestone moment in a major, multi-year transformation of the site.
Following 10 months of extensive renovation work across more than 30,000 sq ft, the Welsh family-owned retailer will open two completely reimagined departments: homestyling and clothing & footwear. The new spaces have been designed from the ground up with one clear focus – how Leekes’ customers actually like to shop.
Emma Leeke, Managing Director of Leekes Retail, said the project has always started with the customer, not the building.
“After months of planning and redevelopment, we’re incredibly proud to be unveiling this next phase of investment. For us, remodelling isn’t just about refreshing a space – it’s about strengthening our relationship with our customers and making their experience even better every time they visit,” she said.

The new homestyling department brings together all areas of home in one cohesive destination – from curtains, bedding and bathroom accessories to cookware, lighting and tableware. The aim is to create a true ‘browsing heaven’, offering customers both inspiration and practical solutions for every room in the home.
Alongside the new layout, Leekes is also expanding its brand offer, with wider ranges from a mix of premium, design-led and functional names including Le Creuset, Kilner, Shark/Ninja, LSA, Robert Welch, Joseph Joseph, Brabantia, OXO and Simplehuman.
While Leekes is best known as a destination for home, its lifestyle clothing offer has continued to grow in popularity – and the newly launched clothing department reflects that momentum. The space will feature more than 20 concession partners, including eight new brands such as Raging Bull and Klass. Footwear is also being introduced for the first time, with Pavers set to arrive in April.
The launch will be celebrated in style over St David’s Day weekend, with themed refreshments, gifts and in-store entertainment from Friday through to Sunday – a nod to the retailer’s Welsh roots and family-owned heritage.
In an increasingly competitive retail landscape, Leekes believes continued investment in physical retail and customer experience is key.
“As a bricks-and-mortar retailer, we have to earn our place every day,” Ms Leeke added. “Putting our customers at the heart of this investment is what will underpin our future success at Llantrisant – and we’re really excited to welcome them into these new departments.
“Now, where did I put those Welshcakes?”
