Lock & Lock box appears on Bake Off

The theme of last week’s episode of BBC series ‘The Great British Bake Off’ was bread – and housewares supplier JWP was quick to notice that one of its Lock & Lock products featured in the show.

In episode three of series six, which aired on August 19, the bakers faced ‘bread week’ and starting with the signature challenge, they made quick breads – with no proving necessary.

Judge Paul Hollywood sets baguettes as the technical challenge and, according to JWP, a Lock & Lock food storage product (HPL 822B, which is in the ‘Original’ or ‘Classic’ Lock & Lock range and is a square 2.6 litre airtight container) was used by most, if not all, the contestants for proving dough.

JWP marketing manager Paul Birtwistle said: “We were delighted to see it appear. Obviously when you need to ensure your containers are airtight, you should only use the best! For great baking, you need great products. We would like to think this will help what are already very healthy sales.”

JWP sales & marketing director Geoff Hounslea added: “All I would say is that The Bake Off Challengers really are a knowledgeable lot this year! Obviously they understand the 100% airtight and water tight qualities of Lock & Lock food storage containers. Beware of Imitations!”
