Lords At Home was selected as one of the world’s top housewares retailers at the International Home + Housewares Show on Saturday night (March 5) in Chicago.
The UK housewares chain competed against 25 outstanding housewares retailers from 23 countries around the globe, and was named as one of the five gia Global Honorees for Retail Excellence.
Also honoured were Lakehouse (Canada), Illums Bolighus (Denmark). Kitchen Shop (Malaysia) and K’OOK! (Netherlands).
The gia [Global Innovation Awards] programme was created in 2000 by the International Housewares Association of the US and International Home + Housewares Show to foster excellence in housewares retailing throughout the world.
The annual competition evaluates retailers on overall mission statement, vision and strategy; store design and layout, visual merchandising, displays and window displays; marketing, advertising and promotions; customer service and staff training and innovation.
Lords At Home’s ‘founding sisters’ – brand director Rita Dewan and her sister Rachna Dewan, who is product director – attended the four-day show, which closed on Tuesday (March 8).
Rita told www.HousewaresLive.net yesterday: “We’re just back today after what was an amazing trip all round to the International Home + Housewares Show.
“Everybody was so welcoming and hospitable and the show was very impressive with so many inspirational products.
“We are completely honoured to be globally recognised for retail excellence. The retailers representing the 22 other countries were of such a high standard, and for Lords to have been chosen from such strong competition makes us feel extremely proud.
“We have high standards in every aspect of our business, from providing excellent customer service to creating beautiful store environments, and our team work very hard to provide the best possible experience for our customers.
“This is a continual journey of learning. We are delighted to have received the award and will continue to strive to be even better. It is a true testament that we are on the right path.”
There are six Lords At Home branches in and around London, at Westbourne Grove, Holland Park, Northcote Road (Battersea), St John’s Wood, Hampstead and Chorleywood.
John Lewis was a Global Honoree in 2015 and Lakeland was a Global Honoree in 2013-2014.
