Mary Berry knocked off top spot by Guy Martin

After several weeks, Mary Berry has been displaced from the number one spot in ‘The Mail on Sunday’s’ weekly bestsellers list of non-fiction hardbacks by an international road-racing legend.

‘My Life At Breakneck Speed’ by Guy Martin now heads up the chart, while the star of TV’s ‘The Great British Bake Off’ is at number two with ‘Mary Berry Cooks’. The book features a collection of 100 recipes, including Mary’s menus for each episode of her BBC series of the same name.

At number three is Quick Recipe Collection, while the seventh and eight places are both held by Italian-British chef and television personality Gino D’Acampo.

At number seven, ‘Pronto! Let’s cook Italian in 20 minutes’ by Gino comprises 130 quick dishes. With recipes organised by ingredients, there are chapters on soups and small plates, chicken, meat, fish and seafood, pasta, vegetables and desserts. The book also includes hints and tips for quicker cooking, such as organising your workspace, and essential store cupboard ingredients for fast flavour.

At number eight, ‘Gino’s Italian Escape’ accompanies his ITV series of the same name. Described as a celebration of the very best Italian food, it features 100 recipes inspired by Gino’s adventures in Italy.

This bestsellers list is compiled by Nielsen Bookscan TCM, which collates real time sales from over 6,500 retailers representing over 90% of the UK book market. It appeared in the May 18 issue of ‘The Mail on Sunday’s’ ‘Event’ Magazine.
