M&S names Sir Stuart Rose’s successor

Marks and Spencer has today announced that Marc Bolland is to take over from Sir Stuart Rose as chief executive of Marks & Spencer.

Bolland, who is currently chief executive of Morrisons, will take up the position sometime next year. Sir Stuart, who is both chief executive and chairman of M&S, will stay as part-time chairman at the company to ensure a smooth transition.

Bolland said in a statement: “M&S is one of the world’s great brands and I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to lead the company forward at this exciting stage.

“I am greatly looking forward to working closely with Stuart and the M&S team.”
