Marks & Spencer has opened a new 41,000 sq ft store at Weymouth Gateway Retail Park in Dorset, with an expanded homewares range forming part of its latest retail investment.
The new store, which opened on July 16, combines a full food hall, bakery, fashion departments and a dedicated home offering under one roof.
Located alongside retailers including Dunelm, the multi-million-pound development replaces M&S’s long-standing town centre store on St Mary Street, which closed this week after serving customers since 1932.
The retailer said the new location provides a more modern shopping environment, with improved parking and easier access for customers. The development includes 234 parking spaces, including 10 electric vehicle charging points.
For home shoppers, the new branch offers an expanded selection of M&S home products, complementing the retailer’s fashion and food ranges. Unlike some of the retailer’s larger format stores, however, the Weymouth location does not include an M&S Café.
The opening forms part of M&S’s ongoing programme to modernise its store estate, investing in larger, more contemporary stores that bring together its food, clothing and home categories in a single destination.
