Nadiya stays at the top of Sunday Times Bestsellers

Nadiya Hussain has retained her premier place in ‘The Sunday Times’ list of bestselling manuals.

Based on sales for the week ending Saturday August 12, ‘Nadiya’s British Food Adventure’ holds the top spot after five weeks in the top 10. The book is a tie-in to the 2015 Bake Off winner’s current BBC2 show of the same name.

In the eight-part series, Nadiya travels across the country to meet the growers, producers and pioneers behind ‘the best of modern British food’ and creates new recipes using their produce. Inspired by her exploration, Nadiya has created more than 120 recipes that mix the local ingredients she encounters with her favourite flavours, with a nod to her Bangladeshi roots.

Part six is on tomorrow (Monday August 21) at 8.30pm. In this episode, Nadiya takes a road trip through Scotland. With forager Gary Goldie, she picks wild Scottish ‘spices’ such as hogweed and sea arrowgrass. Gary uses them to make a wild Scottish curry, while Nadiya makes bhajis and spicy chutney. She then heads to the Blair Atholl Watermill, run by baker Rami Cohen, where she grinds her own flour to bake Indian five-spice soda bread, served with a red lentil dish. Finally, Nadiya pays homage to Scotland with a veggie haggis tart tatin.

Nadiya is also on BBC2 on Tuesday (August 22) as co-host of the new competitive cookery show ‘The Big Family Cooking Showdown’, which airs at 8pm.

At number two is ‘The Clever Guts Diet: How to Revolutionise your Body from the Inside Out’ by Dr Michael Mosley. Drawing from research, Dr Mosley provides scientifically proven ways to control cravings, boost mood, and lose weight by increasing your ‘good gut bacteria’. The book features recipes, meal plans, checklists and tips.

At number three is Joe Wicks’ ‘Cooking for Family and Friends: 100 Lean Recipes to Enjoy Together’. All the recipes are organised into reduced-carb and post-workout chapters, just like Joe’s first three ‘Lean in 15’ books. The recipes are described as ‘big on flavour and packed with the hero ingredients you need to impress your mates, fuel your workout and burn fat’.

The manuals list was published in ‘The Sunday Times’ ‘Culture’ magazine on August 20. The list was prepared by and data supplied by and copyrighted to Nielsen BookScan.
