New Omami brand wins Red Dot award

Spain’s fledgling Omami brand has received a Red Dot design award for its Lunch Box range of airtight containers.

New Omami brand wins Red Dot award

Omami, which was the only Spanish brand to have been awarded the prestigious accolade in the tableware category in 2011, was launched by Araven at last year’s Ambiente show. It is now seeking a UK distributor for its products.

Omami says that designer Borja García applied three main principles to the creation of Lunch Box: perfection, beauty and simplicity. The containers can be heated in the microwave and are stackable, and come in a range of shapes and sizes.

After the success of the first colour range of white, green and smoky, a palette of brighter colours has now been added – pink, purple, green, blue and orange.

Commenting on the award, García said: “We’re very excited about it. It’s a great surprise both for Araven and for the design team – for Araven, as a company that has just launched the brand with such a success, and for me as a designer because this award confirms we’re working in the right direction.”
