Next will open its new 132,000 sq ft anchor store at Bluewater Shopping Centre on 30 July, marking one of the retailer’s biggest UK store openings.

The new store will triple Next’s existing footprint at the shopping centre, replacing its current 44,600 sq ft unit with a flagship store in the former House of Fraser space. It will also become Bluewater’s first new anchor store since the centre opened in 1999.

The expanded store will offer larger fashion departments for men, women and children, an enhanced homeware range and an in-store Costa café. As part of the redevelopment, Bath & Body Works will relocate to a neighbouring 2,000 sq ft unit.

James Waugh, Centre Director at Bluewater, described the opening as a “landmark moment” for the shopping centre, adding that Next’s investment demonstrated continued confidence in bricks-and-mortar retail.

Terry Wetherell, Store Manager at Next Bluewater, said the retailer was looking forward to welcoming customers to what will be the largest store in the Next estate.

To mark the opening, the first 150 customers through the doors will receive goody bags, while Bluewater will host live music and family entertainment across the launch weekend.
