Nick O'Mahony joins Steamer Trading Cookshop

Nick was formerly senior manager/buyer for northern cookshop chain Peter Maturi & Sons, which ceased trading in March. The business was founded in 1899 by Italian immigrant Peter Maturi who opened his first shop in Leeds. He passed away in 1956 but his family continued to build on the company that he created. Two more outlets opened at Harrogate in North Yorkshire, and King Street in Manchester, with an online presence at www.petermaturi.com.

Steamer Trading Cookshop managing director Ben Phillips said: “This is a new role which really emphasises the focus we’re putting on product knowledge and training – credentials which are very important to us. We have appointed a group of 10 area training managers as well.”

Nick has responsibility for ensuring training across the chain’s 30 cookshops.
