Ocado.com has launched a major recruitment drive to find 1,000 permanent new UK staff before Christmas.

The online supermarket said its continuing expansion and the boom in online grocery shopping has fuelled the search for permanent new team members to start immediately across the country.
The posts includes roles at Ocado’s Customer Fulfillment Centres (CFCs) in Dordon, West Midlands, and Hatfield, Hertfordshire, as well as its service delivery hubs in Enfield, Weybridge, Wimbledon and Ruislip.
More than 600 new vacancies are also being created nationwide for ‘Customer Service Team Members’ – drivers who deliver shopping into customers’ homes seven days a week. This includes over 200 jobs across Enfield, Weybridge, Ruislip and Wimbledon.
Ocado HR director Julie Markey said: “Over the last decade, Ocado has grown from a tiny start-up to a company that employs over 8,000 people in the UK and we’re delighted to announce the creation of another 1,000 jobs. However, while we’re looking to fill many of these roles by December, we’re keen to stress that the new opportunities we’re creating are for life, not just for Christmas.
“These are permanent jobs, showing that we’re not just busy in December like most retailers – we’re busy all year round as people are shifting their shopping habits to buying online.”
