Ocado to build ‘compelling non-food offer’

Online grocer Ocado has signalled its intention to expand in kitchenware by recruiting a new head of non-food.

Simon Belsham, who was formerly multichannel development director with Tesco, will lead a team that will introduce new products to its website by early next year, including kitchenware, baby products, toys and cosmetics.

Ocado says it intends to expand its range of products significantly over the next few years, and that that will include developing “a compelling non-food offer”.

The company, which already sells a small number of non-food products, delivers direct to customers within stated one-hour time slots.
