Paton Calvert denies ‘competitor rumours’

Paton Calvert has refuted what it says are “opportunist rumours” being spread by competitors about the state of its business.
The bakeware company admits that last year was a difficult one. But, director Andrew Brooks told HousewaresLive.net: “The loss of some business combined with the retirement of [managing director] Paul Kempsey were the type of events that would give any business headaches.

“Given these events it’s not surprising some of our competitors are trying to write our future plans for us with a string of opportunist rumours.”

One of them concerns the company’s non-appearance at this year’s Spring Fair Birmingham. However, Brooks says that Paton Calvert made the decision in spring 2007 not to attend this year’s fair, and Exclusively Housewares will be its major launch platform for 2008.

Brooks says that the company has also recently signed up for 22 sets of new bakeware tooling for product ranges to be launched in 2008 and 2009, giving it its most comprehensive bakeware range for many years. In addition, it has agreed a new distribution deal, details of which will be announced shortly.
