Prep Cookshop turns one

Independent retailer Prep Cookshop in north London has just celebrated its first anniversary.

Owner Holly Wilson opened the store in Stoke Newington on February 21 2015. Measuring 685sq ft spread over two floors (ground and basement), it’s in in a primary location in the heart of Stoke Newington Church Street which London magazine ‘Time Out’ describes as ‘the area’s lively epicentre’.

Holly said: “My customer is very design-conscious and wants to find something they haven’t seen elsewhere, so this is what I aim to provide. I offer all of your basic tools and equipment but then I try to layer on top more unique products.” Key suppliers include Rosti Mepal, Eddingtons, Dexam and Kuhn Rikon.

She described Prep Cookshop’s first year of trading as “a fabulous rollercoaster ride”. The business celebrated with “fizz and 10% off” from 4-6pm on Sunday February 21

“There was a good turnout of friends and customers,” Holly said. “We had a party at the shop to mark our first birthday with Prosecco and balloons, and all of our kids (mine and some of my friends’) put on an impromptu show downstairs, with lots of singing and jumping around. It was a true representation of the shop – full of kids, laughter and chaos!”
