The Rayware Group has announced its support for Let’s Be Blunt – a national campaign launched by dance teacher and knife crime survivor Leanne Lucas, calling for the widespread adoption of blunt-tip kitchen knives.
Ms Leanne, who was seriously injured in the Southport attacks last year, is campaigning to “de-weaponise” kitchen knives and return them to their original purpose: preparing and cooking food. Her goal is to make blunt-end knives the norm in everyday homes, helping to reduce the risk of injury and misuse.
Rayware’s backing of the campaign aligns closely with the design and ethos of its Viners® Assure Knife Range – a collection of kitchen knives developed without sharp, pointed tips. The design was created following in-depth research, which found that pointed tips serve little culinary function but are a leading cause of kitchen accidents.
“Our Viners® Assure knives are just as effective as traditional designs but offer greater safety for the user,” said Jamie O’Brien, CEO of The Rayware Group. “We’re proud to stand with Leanne in promoting safer kitchen practices.”
Mr O’Brien was recently featured on the BBC, demonstrating the effectiveness of the square-tipped knives compared to their pointed counterparts, highlighting their ability to reduce risk without compromising performance.
The Let’s Be Blunt campaign continues to gain traction nationwide as both individuals and retailers take a closer look at how design can help prevent injury in the home.
