Kuhn Rikon’s Ulu knife has been awarded the prestigious International Red Dot Design Award 2011.

Kuhn Rikon’s chief designer, Philipp Beyeler, drew inspiration from a tool used by the Inuit for the company’s latest innovation, which has a razor-sharp curved blade for cutting quickly and effectively, like a mezzaluna, through herbs, vegetables, fruit, garlic and more.
The Ulu has a stainless, authentic Japanese high carbon steel blade, which is also colour-coated in red or green, and for which a snug-fitting protective safety guard is provided.
The Ulu knife is suitable for right-handed and left-handed users and comes in two sizes to retail at £7.95 and £9.95.
The Ulu’s outstanding design and functionality impressed the Red Dot’s demanding juries.
In the past five years Kuhn Rikon has gained 10 design awards.
