Housewares distributor RKW (part of the family owned Sutton Venture Group) is to open an office in mainland China as part of its ongoing global expansion.
Located in the Guangdong province’s capital of Guangzhou, RKW China Ltd will serve as a strategic operational base for the company and allow closer contact with OEM manufacturing partners based in the area. The 10,000sq ft showroom and sourcing centre, which is scheduled to open on October12, is 35 minutes from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
RKW MD Rob Sutton, said of the expansion: “RKW has seen another year of continued growth in what is its 25th year of trading. By establishing a Chinese base, we’re ensuring that our buying and manufacturing channels are at the forefront of our operation.
“RKW China is ideally placed to make the most of our well-established relationships with product design, manufacturing, QA testing and supply chain partners, as well as allowing us to capitalise on overseas demand for prestigious British heritage brands such as Tower, Morphy Richards, and Swan.
“Our timing is just right with the opening of the facility as it coincides with the mid-October openings of both the Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2015 and Canton Fair 2015, both of which will be attended by buyers from the world over, keen to source high-quality goods from the trusted British brands RKW ranges.”
The expansion follows in the wake of the company’s recent acquisition of brands including 102-year old Tower Housewares, which had previously spent a long period under the Russell Hobbs ownership before being wholly acquired by RKW in 2014.
