Sainsbury’s boosts non-food offer online and in-store

Sainsbury’s is planning a major boost to its homewares offer, beginning with a new online non-food offer this summer.
The 8,000 products will range from kitchenware to furniture.

The supermarket is also earmarking £2bn to grow store space. It hopes to add 2.5msq ft by March 2011, which will allow it to increase its non-food range in-store. Some 40% of the new space will be created through store extensions.

Sainsbury’s has turned to shareholders to help it raise some of the money.
