Housewares supplier Forma House is supporting the Women V Cancer (CAF) charities throughout 2016.
In November staff member Karen Lincoln, who has worked in the housewares industry for over seven years (within the Forma House accounts department), is taking part in the 6 Women V Cancer challenge.
She will be joining a women-only team who will be cycling 450km through Vietnam and Cambodia over 12 days (six of which will be in the saddle). The team will be supporting three charities in their work for CAF: Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.
Karen is aiming to raise a minimum of £3,200 to complete her charity mission. To support her efforts, the management team at Forma recently donated a mix of product samples and seconds for a two-day sale hosted at the company’s headquarters in the Surrey town of Mitcham.
Local residents and businesses alike came out in force to support both Karen and the charities involved, and a total of £420 was raised.
Karen said of the event: “I’m totally overwhelmed by all the support everybody has given me. We even had a local resident pop by with a box of cupcakes she had baked to help keep us all going! I was so moved by this gesture from a complete stranger, which just goes to show how kind people can be and how much we all come together to fight against cancer.’
Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2013 and took up this epic challenge as a way of giving something back to everyone who has helped her battle in overcoming her illness.
