Slovak glassware firm buyer will invest for efficiency

The company, which ran into trouble last July, has now been acquired by Slovakian technology, manufacturing and property development group, EMEL Bratislava sro.

At Western House, a long-term UK partner with Slovglass, CEO Gordon South, told HousewaresLive.net: “This is indeed good news for Slovglass. I recently met with EMEL’s chairman and owner, Ludovit Hamas, and I’m impressed with their long-term approach and desire to create a modern and efficient production unit of lead crystal.

“They’re a technology-driven company and they want to bring the factory up to speed to maximise efficiencies.

“They certainly appear to have the resources, capability and determination to do so, and we look forward to our continuing partnership with Slovglass.”

South said that despite Slovglass’s former troubles, Western House had enjoyed “pretty seamless supplies” throughout.
