John Lewis finished the week to August 10 with sales up 7.1% up on last year.

The department store group’s London and South shops continued to compete with last year’s Olympics comparatives while the Northern stores delivered a 10.5% increase on las.t year, with Chester topping the table at 24.6%, Trafford 19.6% and Glasgow at 14.8%.
In the South, Swindon achieved a very positive result at 16.8% and Milton Keynes’ refurbished shop came in second with 21%.
johnlewis.com continues to trade well and achieved an increase of 21.4% ahead of last year with Electricals at 39.4% ahead of last year, driving the sales growth here.
From a product perspective, electrical and home technology was the largest category with sales up 23.2%, The best result came from small electricals, that stole the show at 39.6%. Home sales were up 1.2% on last year.
