Appliance manufacturer Smeg is joining forces with Bentalls in Kingston-upon-Thames to help get shoppers in the mood for Valentine’s Day with a seasonal promotion.
From February 12 to February 15, the Surrey department store will unveil a specially created Valentine’s Day display – styled into a kitchen set and featuring a photo lounge – with the help of Smeg’s FAB28QR refrigerator in vibrant red, TR4110 Victoria range cooker in cream and small domestic appliances including kettles, toasters and mixers.
Throughout the four days, customers will be invited to strike a pose and have their picture taken in the photo lounge. As well as receiving up to four photographs to take home, customers can also sample a red velvet cupcake and be in with a chance of winning one of Smeg’s colourful stand mixers. Pictures will be uploaded onto Bentalls’ Facebook page and the person judged to have submitted the best photograph will win a stand mixer.
On Saturday February 14 and Sunday February 15, a team of chefs and home economists – including Housewares Magazine columnist Malcolm Harradine – will give demonstrations within Bentalls’ ‘Living Kitchen’ area and show shoppers how to create the red velvet cupcakes themselves, using Smeg’s stand mixers.
The Living Kitchen is a working kitchen and demonstration area, fitted with Sub-Zero refrigeration and Wolf ovens, on the lower ground floor of the store alongside the Electrical and Cookshop departments.

At Smeg we love to engage with our customers in fun and unique ways and we’re looking forward to demonstrating that once again.”
