Sophie Conran to make special appearance at Spring Fair

Portmeirion Group is commemorating the 200th anniversary of Spode’s Blue Italian and the 10th anniversary of the Sophie Conran for Portmeirion collection.

The celebrations will kick off on Portmeirion Group’s stand at the Spring Fair (Hall 9 Stand E30-F31), which will be held at the NEC in Birmingham from February 7-11. The housewares supplier will showcase its anniversary collections and new ranges from its Portmeirion, Spode, Royal Worcester and Pimpernel brands.

On Monday February 7, the Group has several events and demonstrations taking place on its stand as well as appearances from Sophie Conran and Hannah Dale.

In celebration of Blue Italian’s 200th anniversary, John Raftery, senior design technician at Portmeirion Group, will be on the stand demonstrating the highly skilled art of engraving – a process that brought Blue Italian to life in 1816.

Portmeirion’s master potter will be throwing some pieces at his potter’s wheel to illustrate the high level of craftsmanship involved in producing the Sophie Conran for Portmeirion range – and Sophie herself will join the demonstration at 4pm where she will be on hand to talk to customers about her range.

Hannah Dale will also be on the stand from 4pm to talk to customers about her Wrendale Designs giftware collection, produced by Royal Worcester. Featuring hand-painted watercolours of animals that Hannah observes in the Lincolnshire countryside, Royal Worcester’s Wrendale Designs collection is a worldwide best-seller for the company.
