Spring Fair has revealed that interior design duo 2 Lovely Gays (2LG) – Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead – will be among visitors at the upcoming show, which takes place from February 4 to February 8 at the NEC in Birmingham.
www.2lgstudio.com is an interior design studio in south-east London founded by the creative pair which offers residential and commercial interior design services, design consultancy services and styling services.
Jordan and Russell’s work has appeared in consumer magazines including ‘Grand Designs Magazine’, ‘Livingetc’, ‘ELLE Decoration’, ‘House Beautiful’ and ‘Harper’s Bazaar UK’. It has also been featured by online content giant Buzzfeed.
Announcing their decision to visit to the Spring Fair in a blog post, Jordan and Russell said: “This year, we’ve made a conscious decision that we want to make 2018 a year of connection. 2017 felt like a year of good honest hard work, with our heads down in our studio. But that can be lonely.
“We want to shake it up and get out to some shows that are new to us, spend time face-to-face with more like minded design obsessives, and hunt out some original suppliers that can keep our work and our minds fresh.”
They continued: “Spring Fair is the largest showcase of homewares and gifting brands anywhere in the UK, so we’re told. How have we not been before?
“Admittedly, these things are vast and can be overwhelming –on our first trip to Maison et Objet in Paris five years ago, we thought we were meant to see every single thing on show and ended up with blisters the size of our heads. To save you some of that comedy, we’ve picked out our top five reasons why you need to get out and take a trip to Spring Fair.
“1.Get the inside track on what’s new and where the homewares scene is heading, with major players Pinterest and WGSN, among others [both companies are contributors to The Atelier installation, see below]: always a valuable insight.
“2. Instagramable installations: The Summerhouse [a sector of the show billed as a ‘curated edit of the most original international homewares brands’] and The Atelier [a new trend-led installation, with contributions from trend forecasters and platforms Pinterest, WGSN, One Click Retail and Coloro].
“3. Build your network with like-minded homeware obsessives: we’re hoping to meet lots of new faces and catch up with some friends too while we’re there.
“4. Best of Scandi comes to the UK:Vita Copenhagen and Cozy Living are top of our list for a visit [Spring Fair claims to feature the UK’s largest selection of Scandinavian brands, as well as a variety of Dutch-inspired designs].
“5. Interiors Inspiration:Some of the best kept secret suppliers for interior designers will be there for you to connect with (Coach House and Clarke and Clarke, to name but a few).”
The duo concluded: “In our experience, you have to wade through a lot of things you don’t love to get to the pieces that are right for you. But it’s so worth it when you find those unexpected gems – and in doing, so you will get an amazing overview of what’s new and what’s on offer right now in the homewares world.
“Not just because it gives you a firmer bum after a day of walking, the legwork is so rewarding because you get to take the temperature of the overall scene by taking it in, whether it’s all up your street or not. And you can make those personal connections with new suppliers that may just make your life easier when it comes to specifying items.”
