Stephen Fry and friends heap TV praise on Krisk slicer

The Krisk bean slicer can expect to find its way into more than a few Christmas stockings this year after it was picked out for special praise on Monday night’s episode of Channel 4’s Stephen Fry: Gadget Man.

In the programme, which this week focused on kitchen gadgets, Fry was introduced to the slicer by food writer, critic and chef Simon Hopkinson.

“Simon reserved his biggest enthusiasm of the day for a rather retro runner bean slicer produced from his very own pocket,” Fry said, adding, “I shall definitely be using that at tonight’s soirée!”

Later in the episode comedian Jo Brand remarked: “My verdict is it’s…so nice for a change to see runner beans that are even in length.”

The Krisk bean slicer has been exclusively distributed in the UK by RG Bennett for over 60 years now, and recently featured in an article in The Times, as well as having had previous television endorsements by the likes of Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein.

Said Bennett’s managing director Robin Clark: “We don’t pay for recommendations: the Krisk bean slicer is recommended by chefs and users alike because it works.

“Having these endorsements just before Christmas shows what an ideal stocking filler the bean slicer makes for any serious cook or gadget geek.”

Other kitchen accessories featured on the programme included the Bodum Bistro Turntable salt and pepper grinder, Oxo Good Grips mango splitter, Dexam’s Chef ‘N Garlic Zoom and Veggichop, Talisman Designs’ Cherry Chomper, Philips Airfryer and Tefal’s Fresh Express.

If you missed Monday night’s programme there’s another chance to see it on 4seven on Saturday, December 1 at 1.25am.
