Tesco rolls out Scan as you Shop service

Tesco is rolling out its Scan as you Shop service to a further 20 stores in a bid to help customers save time at the checkout.

The supermarket chain’s service allows customers to scan products as they walk round the store, and keep a tally of how much they’re spending.

The trial, which will see Scan as You Shop available at self-service checkouts as well as manned checkouts, will mean the service is now available in nearly 350 stores across the UK – which, Tesco claims, is more than any other retailer.

A spokesperson for the grocery multiple said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to shop with us. Scan as You Shop is already used by over 600,000 customers every week, and not only saves time at the checkout but enables customers to track their spend as they go too. This new trial will mean more customers than ever before can benefit from the service and check out in a matter of seconds.”

To drive awareness of the scheme, Tesco has introduced a new TV advert about the service.
