The Rainy Day Trust’s Mad March Million returns

The Rainy Day Trust is organising its annual Mad March Million.

Bryan Clover, The Rainy Day Trust CEO, said: “Now that the excesses of Christmas are drifting into the background, it’s a great time to start thinking about joining our Mad March Million.  Teams of 3 or 4 aim to take a million steps between them in the month March; they can run, jog or just walk, but the important part is getting out and about every day. 10,000 steps a day is a simple and effective way of not only burning a few calories, but also giving your mental health a boost.

“Any activity that involves bilateral movement, using both sides of your brain to coordinate your activity, helps you to process the stresses and strains of the day.  And just being outdoors in the fresh air is good for you – away from the dreaded computer screen for a while.  Maybe get several teams together at work and have a bit of healthy competition between them? Get your teams to set up a sponsorship page for us on Just Giving and we’ll put the money raised to good use, supporting those that are having a tough time.”

Clover added: “This year we will send you a t-shirt to show that you are doing your bit to beat the mental health challenges that are out there, and supporting your industry charity too.  There’s a £12 a head registration fee – maybe the business could pay this for them?

“To register your teams drop me an e-mail and start the fundraising.  Just to make it all a bit more interesting, there’s a bottle of champagne when your team passes £1,000 raised (and every £1000 thereafter too) and trays of brownies and other cakey delights for the team that manages the highest average number of steps taken.”
